You may have heard of Terry Dean.

If not, you can check out his post above.

You might ask why I'm making this post.

Because Terry asked, and it gives me the chance to win a Jay Abraham course I've been wishing for.

I have to say this is an interesting trend. I first noticed it on James Brausch's blog:

http://www.jamesbrausch.com

Basically, I'm giving away something, and the first (or some) trackback to it wins a prize.

James does like to talk about 98%ers. James, please note that I must be somewhere in between.

I'm linking back, but I'm doing it for no gain :)

Let's see, I need a new garage.

New bathroom fittings.

Some new wiring.

Building consent.

All pretty much unrelated (except the building consent)

Still, nothing too outrageous, just money.

Oh, and the fact that this is my third attempt to make this post as the browser keeps randomly crashing.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Repeating the first day of the daily target praxis.

Good reminder because I REALLY need to get back into this.

Parents, don't make the mistake of thinking your kid only learns between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Ah, how true.

Even more so when you consider I had passed a 10 year old reading level before ever starting school.

It is certainly important to remember that everything children are exposed to is an education.

And that strong (and hence usually negative) emotions are the most easily retained.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Part Two of the Simpleology cockpit.

Continuously refine your view of your targets. The clearer your vision, the easier it is to achieve.

Clarify and refine your 'things to do' and make sure you actually do things that are important.

Do It. Deliberate. Or Dump It.

Definitely the key to all this.

I believe in the transformational power of liberty.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

I really need to get back in to this, it's amazing how even a one day break can make it so hard to start up again.

Anyway. Lesson 13: The Simpleology cockpit. I've got it all set up already, so there wasn't much to do here.

But there was a good ten minute discussion on determining and refining goals.

I'll never fully be able to appreciate the work of this week's Mystery Man.

His name was Gunter Grass, a recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature. The original (German) version of his book "The Tin Drum" is considered one of the great works of literature. But alas, as with any great literary achievement, the greatness is almost always lost in translation.

Not someone I've every heard of. A shame really, it sounds kind of interesting.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Lesson 13 again today.

What are the Praxes?

Well, I should know this, but lets review and see if I notice anything new.

Key points:

Small amount per day

Simple, small, CONSISTENT practise

Some carry Chopin in their hearts, others thoughts of revenge.

I took a few days off Simpleology, mostly due to a change in the sleep schedule of my daughter.

I have to say that it does make a big difference to how productive I feel. I'm not certain I would have been any more productive using Simpleology, but I was certainly more aware of the difference in my progress towards my goals.

Now if I can just figure out some practical stuff for my Power Praxis, I can get back on track.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Hhmm. Lesson 12 today I think.

Strengthening and weakening decisions.

Which is just what I've been doing. How ironic.

What I really need though is ways of identifying strengthening decisions. While it is easy enough to spot a weakening one, I find it difficult to notice when I've done something unexpected that improved things.

The devil you know or the devil you don't?

I've managed to skip basically two days while trying to deal with the mountain of 'stuff' that has fallen into my lap.

On the plus side, my grandmother is well enough to undergo heart surgery. On the minus, she needs heart surgery, and given the state of our health system, she's probably too well to qualify for it.

Anyway, I'd prefer the deveil I know in this case, but in life you always get ...

So, the daily quote is:

" ... grownups see more in and behind a clock than any clock can
justify."

A little abtrsue for me in my current frame of mind. So I'll let it ride, and on to the daily lesson.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Lesson 11.

My Pathway To Power.

Practise, repetition and focus.

However, today is going to be a day of rest.

Art is so wonderfully irrational

I LOST my daily target sheet yesterday :(

Guess I should not have left the house with it.

Ah well, I think I got a bunch of it sorted. But lets get on with todays lesson

Simpleology Exercise for today:

The three sources of power.

Time

Energy

Money

And leverage is the easiest way to expand upon them.

They are always fluctuating, and you can take actions to improve them if you choose

Simpleology Lesson #9 - "We are creating the future."

Very true. Everything we do creates the future.

Which is why I find last nights documentary on the White House reviewing and editing all releaes on climate control by Federally funded organisations so disturbing. I mean really, having the Congress annual report on climate change reviewed and edited by a LAWYER who is a known lobbyist for the National Petroleum Association? HELLO!!!!

Actually, I hope there are few people who think the way I do and are prepared to act. Is we follow the best guess at preserving ecosystem integrity, and keep 50% of the living land off limits, we can sustain a population about 10% of its current level. Only way I know around that is to find a source of very cheap very plentiful energy to substitute.

Otherwise, the logical thing to do is find a way to bred lots yourself, and a way to convertly eradicate 90%+ of the worlds population. And I hate to think of being on the receiving end even more than I dislike the idea of needing to do that.

Whoa. Pretty negative ideas today. But have you ever heard of the Wizards First Rule? "What Is. IS. All else is delusion." Basically, wishful thinking gets you nowhere, you need to act based on the facts.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Anyway, lesson 9 second time around.

Basic phyics. Everything is an action, and every action produces a reaction.

Which means:

Everything you choose to do (and not choosing is a choice too) produces results. You can choose not to fix a problem, but you certainly then have no right to complain about it.

Anyway, didn't get everything done yesterday. I seem to be missing some account paperwork, and I'm hunting high and low for it.

Simpleology Lesson #8 - Second time around

Whoo. Almost missed doing this today because my daughter slept 2 four hour stretches instead of 1 four and 2 two hours.

Anyway, I'd better get caught up.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Well, yesterday I repeated my daily targets from the day before. They were mostly weather related, and the weather on Saturday was so bad I couldn't do them, but it was fine on Sunday.

But I do have a new addition to my task list. We have a wasp nest down the back of the property. And since I don't think we're allowed to go pouring petrol into the ground in a built up area, I think I'm going to have to find an exterminator.

Anyway, hit it until you hit it is todays lesson. And I am.

I've possibly lined up a test user for my product site, as someone who is starting out.

I was just noticing too, that many of the principles that are involved in Simpleology are also mentioned in many texts as ways to effectively create direct marketing campaigns.

Clearly defined offers, and target markets for example.

All life is an experiment

Who was our Mystery Man? Ralph Waldo Emerson

Emerson sounds familiar. But I don't think I've ever read anything of his.

Maybe I should at some point.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Weather is starting to become a sizeable conspiracy against my Daily Targets.

It's hard to complete some of them when water never stops falling from the sky.

Lesson 7 again today.

Keep it in your sights.

I'm nearly there. Just two more items, then testing and I'll be ready to release it.

He was an American author, philosopher, and poet.

The founder of Transcendentalism in the US.

Still no idea. Every day I find out how little I know :)

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Lesson 6 once more.

See your target.

I'm working on it. Actually, I'm working on hitting my target.

Once I get a form and a return page finished, I'll be ready to put my site live.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

The scientific formula for success again today.

Short and too the point.

Unfortunately for me, a screaming baby for last night and tonight has worn me out to the point where I've got basically nothing done beyond the bare minimum.

I hope I can figure out something soon, or that she starts sleeping properly again.

It's not what you say but what you do

Well, actually, the quote was much longer than that. But I don't recognise it.

A long but not eventful day yesterday, and I'm shattered now.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

Lesson 4 completed once again. It's hard to concentrate when I'm this tired though.

On the up side, I finished off almost everything on my Praxis list yesterday. The only thing left is updating my accounts to give to my accountant. I almost need to pick a couple of items off my dream catcher, which is a really good feeling.

With too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense

That's a nice sounding quote all right.

Looks like I'm almost 1 day ahead of the emails this week.

Bub is happy again, so time to catch up on some sleep hopefully.

Amazing how important it becomes.

Simpleology Exercise for today:

A repeat of lesson 3. Focussed attention.

I've knocked off almost everything on my list today.

Trying to work out a bug in the Paypal encryption code I've got.

And partially completed the client work.

I'm not sure I've doubled my work done, but I think I've added at least 40-50% so far.
